Leading articles:
‘MARDOMSALARI’ in its editorial has reviewed a slice of history of the Islamic Revolution. 31 years ago the same days, people poured into the streets and chanted slogans of “Freedom”, “Independence”, and “the Islamic Republic.” But the despotic regime could not tolerate the people’s peaceful demonstrations and ordered its mercenaries to fire barrage of shots at the defenseless people, turning the streets into a bloodbath. The nation was grateful for its fearless and truthful leadership and naturally looked forward to receiving such a high-minded leader (Imam Khomeini). Imam returned to homeland on Bahman 12 (February 1, 1979) and drove out the dictatorial monster. The Late Imam Khomeini believed firmly in the strong willpower of the nation and knew perfectly that no dam can withstand the tremendous force of the raging flood of the nation.
‘KAYHAN’ editorial headlined “Signs of Decline” has argued that the opposition movement has died away. Clear signs are seen that the post-election “green sedition” has died. The foreign supporters of the seditious activities are struggling to deceive few more people. And the leaders of the movement in the country are trying to escape punishment. But there is a question: how long is it possible to put make-up on the face of the dead body of the movement?
‘ETEMAD’ in its editorial titled “Don’t Forget the History of the Revolution” has criticized slandering or showing disrespect to the prominent revolutionary figures by certain political groups. Increasing efforts to tarnish the image of considerate figures of the establishment will inflict irreparable damages on the establishment. Why do some political figures display such a blatant impropriety which is not logical and doesn’t benefit anyone? Some venerable religious figures such as Ayatollah Javadi Amoli have frequently warned that such defamatory remarks are neither Islamic nor ethical, but all these advices have fallen on deaf ears.
‘JAVAN’ in its commentary headlined “Behind the Scenes of the U.S. Missile System in the Persian Gulf” has analyzed the recent move by the United States to beef up its military presence in the Persian Gulf. The move to expedite the deployment of (land-based Patriot) missile systems in the region can be analyzed from various aspects. Obviously this plan is in keeping with the current U.S. policy to put Iran under pressure as part of a psychological warfare against Tehran. The United States has seen the time fit to implement its long-awaited plan in the Persian Gulf on the pretext that Iran poses a threat to the security of the region. On the other hand, considering the mobility of these missile systems, the plan can be regarded as a threat against the United States’ major rivals, namely Russia and China.
‘BAHAR’ in a report reveals interesting statistics about imports from the United States to Iran. According to the Iran customs organization, the volume of imports from the United States in a four-year period (2005-2009) has increased 21 times compared with its preceding period (2001-2005). The report also said during the same period of time the value of the imports into the country has approximately tripled.
